Happy Tuesday world! And Happy first day of May. Today one of my coworkers asked me a question on a conference call and I said, “oh we should know the answer to that on May first. Just sit tight.”
“Today is May first.”
I could have slapped myself. I literally needed to slap myself right down from the clouds. My son has mysteriously stopped sleeping through the night so I am completely unaware of everything around me. It’s weird because month 2 and month 3 were amazing. He slept for at least 6 hours each night. Now as we approach month 4 he’s like “gotcha, gotcha!”
Anyway, if you follow me on insta you saw me post about new products I am incorporating into my hair routine. If you don’t follow me on insta, well you should start today @livingwithRC.
A friend of mine has been using Mielle Organics products and getting really good results, so I decided to test them out on my hair. Here’s what I used:
It wasn’t time for a shampoo so I just did a co-wash. I do plan to test out the shampoo though.
Since I was between washes I didn’t do any crazy hair routine. I just did a co-wash in the shower and worked it through with my fingers. I love how soft and malleable my hair was while I was working it through. Sometimes with a co-wash my hair still feels super heavy because I’m not getting an actual shampoo, but that didn’t happen.
After I finished co-washing I towel dried my hair and then rubbed some Mint Almond Oil through, using my finger tips to rub it into my hair and scalp.
Next I took a little less than a quarter sized amount of the hair milk and massaged it through my hair from roots to ends.
Then I twisted it all up and went on about my night.
I took the twists down the next morning, and I really like how my twist out turned out. Even though I have a tight curl, my hair is super thin. So some products weigh it down and make it really gross, especially between washes. And other products don’t get into the hair follicle leaving my hair dry by the morning. With the Mielle products, my hair was still nice and soft and I didn’t need to add anymore oil the next day. I could still feel the oil on my hair when I rubbed it between two fingers but it wasn’t super oily–just enough to know the moisture was sealed in.
I’d say these products are a win! What are some of your favorite hair care products for natural hair?
