Yesterday was my husband’s birthday. And birthdays are a big deal in my house. At least they are to me. I take on the responsibility of planning the birthday of everyone in my household and I like to think I do a pretty good job at it. This year I found a new restaurant for us to try–Conner’s Kitchen + Bar. It’s been around for a little over a month and I’ve been stalking them to see if it was worth our time. Their instagram photos are pretty convincing, so I decided to make reservations.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the restaurant but I went In with complete optimism. There weren’t very many people when we arrived, and I wasn’t sure whether to attribute that to the time of evening (we went at 6:30) or if this was just a bad sign. Where were all the people?
Luckily, Conner’s Kitchen + Bar did not disappoint. The food was amazing. Dominic, our oldest, had a cheeseburger and it was probably the best cheeseburger I’ve had at a restaurant. Not often do you have a cheeseburger where you can actually taste the seasoning in the burger. It wasn’t just a juicy piece of beef. It was juicy and delicious. Like I seriously could have just eaten the patty without all the fixings and been completely satisfied.
But we aren’t here for the entrees. I promise to write another review about entrees another time. Today’s post is reserved for dessert. And who doesn’t love a good dessert?
I’ll start with the Ice Cream Sunday. Everyone has ice cream on their menu, but unless the restaurant is serving gelato, ice cream isn’t really a thing to write home about…unless you’re getting the ice cream at Conner’s Kitchen + Bar. Check this out.

This is ice cream Sunday overload. If you’re going to do an ice cream Sunday, here’s how it should be done.
Next we have the Everything Cake Donuts. I am a huge lover of donuts and cake separately. It’s always a win to have them together. At Conner’s you get seven deep fried cake donut holes with hot fudge and chopped nuts for dipping. These were ahh-may-zing! I tell you no lie.

I know you’re eyeing that slice of heaven in the background of the donut photos. That would be the Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie. Guys…there’s chocolate ganache in the pie. Ganache and peanut butter. That’s like a win-win by itself. Then the salty and crunchy of the pretzels. Are you not currently drooling over the thought? If not, you will be after these photos.

Our family really had an amazing time at Conner’s and I’m already planning to return. Aside from the incredible dessert (and let’s not forget that cheeseburger) the vibe was nice. Super chill and trendy but no too trendy where it comes off like it’s only open for hipsters (no knock to the hipsters). Our server was perfect and attentive and the manager was great too. Everyone was courteous but no one overdid it and that’s important to me. I want to know you’re trying but I don’t need you to try too hard. No one wants an overbearing server.
The only thing that I would change is adding more people. The crowd picked up a bit as we were heading out but this place is far too good to not have a wait for seating. If you live in the Indianapolis area, you should definitely make your way to Conner’s. And do it soon because I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before it becomes one of the most popping spots downtown.
I just posted about Conner’s too!!
